Senior Citizens
The Third Age brings with it many changes in lifestyle. Your children have grown up and left home, and your retirement has provided you with a great amount of free time and your daily routine differs from what it was in the past. At the same time, your body changes, and metabolism decreases and there are health-related issues that require consideration and treatment.
For some of you this is a wonderful time in which you will be free to do the things you enjoy, to develop new areas of interest and invest in your quality of life. This is a golden opportunity to adopt a healthy life style that is tailored to the physical needs of the Third Age, to learn what you should and shouldn't eat, to incorporate physical activity and a proper diet, as well as attend to your body's needs within your daily routine.
For others this life stage spells trouble. The health care problems interrupt one's familiar daily routine and require special nutrition and many compromises; the increased leisure time brings with it a sense of loneliness and sadness, and sometimes there is a decrease in standard of living and in livelihood sources, which in turn necessitate various economic concessions.
There is no doubt that each and every person is different and that for each person the difficulty and challenge lie in different areas. We at ISIS - The Interdisciplinary Center for Weight Management, Nutrition and Wellness, run a unique program for senior citizens, to help them maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. This is a program which incorporates: nutritional guidance provided by a nutritionist and constructing a menu which takes into consideration all the special nutritional needs. We also offer a personal and balanced training program which you may implement accompanied by a personal trainer in our professional gym. Additionally, we hold weekly meetings led by a psychologist, in small and intimate groups, where you may discuss topics that are of concern to you, hear others recount their coping experiences, and receive training, accompaniment, and constant support.
